FAQs

Learn More About Our Texas Moving Company & Moving Services

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start with a 10- to 30-minute phone consultation to get the specific details of your moving project down and make recommendations on truck size and the team/moving services needed.

For packing services or projects with special details, we are happy to provide an onsite estimate. After you evaluate our free estimate, we work with you to create a custom moving plan to suit your needs. All it takes is a phone call and your contact details to secure your appointment.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire moving services in your area of work?

Make sure the moving company you choose to trust with your belongings is not only licensed and insured (check our credentials online at the TxDMV Truck Stop Database/TXDMV# 006809295C), but is also prepared to do the job. Our trucks arrive fully equipped with premium pads and equipment to handle any moving project. We do ask that any specialty items you may have, please mention them during your booking so that we can ensure we have the correct tools for the job on the truck that day.

Always ask what’s provided in the price of the moving services you are booking and what steps are taken to ensure the safety of your items. We have transparent pricing, so there are no hidden fees and we make sure we pad, wrap, and protect every item necessary.

In the event that something is damaged, what policies are in place to ensure that the matter is resolved?
All Movers in the state of Texas are required by law to provide $0.60/lb on every item transported. Additionally, we have company policies in place to minimize damages and ensure that when something does occur, it can be quickly resolved. Company policy is to notify the client and the main office immediately, then notate the contract, and finally, take any pictures needed for an assessment. Within 48 hours, we will have a resolution plan in place. In the event the damaged item is not repairable, a replacement value is determined and a resolution to satisfy the customer is completed within 7 days.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professional movers about their project?

It is a good idea to evaluate your moving needs prior to the initial call to help us best establish the moving services you likely need. Take a few moments to think of a few things you want to mention during the consultation to ensure the moving company has the adequate information needed to accurately estimate time, materials, and any special tools needed for your project.

Also, consider the following:

  • Challenges you will need to convey to the movers (low-hanging branches, steep driveways, short timelines, layover timelines, etc.)
  • Any specialty items you may have (piano, safe, pool table, antiques, etc.)
  • Approximately how many boxes you will have
  • Type of moving service needed
  • Will you pack your items prior to move day or do you want to get pricing on total home or partial home packing?
  • Do you want/need furniture disassembly and re-assembly?
How can I find out how much my move will cost?

Our moving estimates use a few different pieces of information to create as accurate of a quote as possible. This includes:

  • When are you moving?
  • Where are you moving to and from? This includes the location and conditions such as number of stairs and the terrain surrounding your home.
  • What kinds of items are you moving? This includes specialty items, such as pianos, antique furniture, hot tubs, and other large or atypical items.
  • Texas Elite Movers provides a Simple Move Tool that allows you to get a quick, accurate quote for your unique moving needs. To get your free quote, simply visit our Free Moving Quote page.
How do you charge for moving services?

Our pricing structure varies depending on the type of move. For example, local moves are typically charged at an hourly rate, however, you do have the option to get a flat rate. Long distance and single item moves, on the other hand, are quoted using a flat rate.

Check out our pricing page for more information.

For dressers and similar items, is it okay to leave things in the drawers?

It is typically not a problem to leave items in drawers. However, it is best to take out anything that is not soft or light, as the item may get tilted on its side during transport.

For more delicate items, such as antiques, it is strongly recommended to empty the drawers. This makes it less likely that the structure of the item will be jeopardized during movement to and from our trucks or up and down stairs.

That being said, our teams would be happy to simply remove the drawers altogether if necessary. It’s our job to make your move as simple as possible for you – our teams are capable of making an expert call.

What do I do if something is damaged during my move?

Since our inception nearly 20 years ago, Texas Elite Movers has not had to file a single insurance claim. It’s not that we’ve never had damage – most cargo insurance policies simply have high deductibles.

That being said, we are proud of our less than .01% damage rate. This is exceptional – almost unheard of – for a moving company, and we take immense pride in it.

If your belongings are in any way damaged due to a movers’ negligence we are committed to resolving it in a timely and honorable manner. In the state of Texas, a household goods carrier’s liability for loss or damage to a shipment is 60 cents per pound, per article (unless the carrier and shipper agree in writing to a greater liability). Be sure to ask us about our additional coverage options.

What happens if there is inclement weather on my scheduled moving day?

Good news – a little rain is no problem for our expert moving teams! In cases of severe weather, however, you will always be given the opportunity to reschedule if you do not feel comfortable with us moving your items, or if the conditions outdoors are simply unsafe.

Is there additional coverage available for purchase?

Yes! We offer additional coverage options to all customers up to $20,000. If more coverage is needed, we suggest visiting a website on moving insurance to understand better. Texas Elite Movers is a preferred vendor – they would be happy to provide you with as much coverage as you require.

Am I expected to tip my movers? If so, how much is the standard?

Though tips are not typically expected, they are always greatly appreciated. Your moving team will get to keep 100% of their tip as a thank you for their hard work.

When tipping your mover, the amount should typically reflect the size of the job, as well as the quality of the service. Tips range from anywhere between 10% and 20% depending on the professionalism, attitude, and efficiency of your moving team. Tips are accepted both in the form of cash or card.

What is your cancellation policy? What if I need to reschedule?

Texas Elite Movers requires an initial deposit at the time of booking – this allows us to hold a spot for you on our calendar. From there, you have until 48 hours from the day of your scheduled move to cancel or reschedule (at which time you will receive a full refund of your deposit).

Typically, rescheduling allows us to simply switch your move date and/or time, and reapply your initial deposit to the new appointment. This will also depend on how busy our schedule is.

Do I need to be present during my move?

Texas Elite Movers has done plenty of moves where the client was not present at the site. As long as we receive proper instructions, we can still complete the job efficiently.

If you are not planning on being present during your move, it is best to use our free quote page to get an idea of what the cost will be.

Is there anything that is not covered by Texas Elite Movers?

Texas Elite Movers does not cover items such as particle or press boards, jewelry, plants, insides of electronics, and items that were already packed by the customer.

Additionally, we do not cover moves where a third party is involved. For example, if we are hired to load a truck but not transport the items, our coverage ends once the load is completed.

Is there anything you will not move?

Our teams at Texas Elite Movers prides themselves on being able to find creative solutions to move almost anything – as always, however, there are exceptions. We will not transport anything that is legally not feasible, such as flammables, explosives, liquids, pets, and firearms.

When and how will I be paying for your services?

Final payments are made at the end of the job, once the move is complete and you are satisfied with the service you have received. Texas Elite Movers accepts cash, cashiers checks, money orders, and all major credit and debit cards.
